love or a friendship
Some people are looking at this friendship that is between Keyes and Huff and thinking that there is more then friendship feelings there. I would agree and disagree with that. I agree because I feel like there is a deeper bond then friendship but I don't think that is a homosexual thing that is going on between the two men. They both show that they are or have had a relation with another women. They seem to have a deeper bond then just a friendship just because of the way that they talk to each other. They talk to each other in a way that most women would if they were friends but not men. In modern times this would not be uncommon because guys have become much more friendly and let emotion into there lives for eachother but they still don't have a sexual view of eachother. They love eachother but not in a homosexual way as most people would assume but rather in a way that some people would call a "bromance". It is easy mistake it if you are looking only on the surface because most of the same qualities of a relationship are found in a bromance such as they hug eachother, call or text constantly, and sometimes can even sleep over at the other persons house. They don't sleep in the same bed, hold hands, kiss, or do anything that would cross that line of having a homosexual relationship with the other partner. Like in this book during a bromance sometimes you even try to be better then the other person but you will never let anyone or anything get in the way of your relationship.

Hi, i really like how you give your honest opinion of the two and how you broke down the different relationships between men. i also liked how you related it to modern time, and even put in some examples of what a bromance is. But i dont think the article literally meant the two men had a sexual relationship or looked at each other in a sexual way. i think it was just showing the strength between the two men and how it over powered Walters feelings for Phyllis. Although i may be wrong but thats what i gathered from the article. It was nice to read how other people interpreted the reading and getting a look at another persons point of view. Until next time.
ReplyDeletei completely agree with you, i didnt see any of the signs either when i saw the movie. but it was really hard to tell becuse the movie was shot so long ago and maybe there were differnt ways back then you could get the message out that you were homosexual with out letting the whole world know about it. i think if you have to analyze a movie that much that it takes the entertainment out of it. if you get a chance read my blog i found some pretty interesting things about wilder.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you wouldn't agree with Walter and Keyes having more then just a bromance. I first I thought no Walter and Keyes are like father and son. But after analyzing the novel and film and reading the articles on homoeroticism. I can see a little homoeroticism and not saying every man or dude has homoeroticism if they do have close relationship with their guy friends. It's just back in those days things a to be done and showed in different way. It couldn't just be put out there so things had to be hinted around. And back in those days a lot of things we see now in films couldn't even be shown and sometimes the hinting wasn't made for everyone to caught or see it in that way.
